I've noticed last night that a marvelous change in dA experience had occurred: TEH NEW USERNAME SYMBOLS.
What dA claims is that this will provide:
- a seamless experience
- cleanliness and intuitive browsing
- easily identification of deviant types
- implementation of more technological advancements in the future
My opinion :> :
What exactly is seamless about this experience? Is it cleaner? Sure it is. The strike in the deviant's name who deactivated is really straightforward and clean so yay And of course the nice symbols show you the quality of the deviant you're about to accessrape. Cuz it's all about knowing what TYPE of deviant you're up against.
(I really think they should have a pedobear symbol and a troll symbol as well :> it would really help out around the site )
Oh yes and the implementation of technological advancement in the future :> Gotta love that :> I really see the new username symbols being a breakthrough in the technology and architecture of dA
I call BULLCRAPPYPANTSSHIZZ
I knew deviantart was making silly improvements that only looked shiny and fun but were in fact useless, once again using new features to try and make the money members pay on premium membership seem justifiable, when in fact most members payed for the customization of their profile or promoting art through thumbs - be it their own or others'.
Now deviants will want to pay a subby for the big eye-catching stars at the end of their names :> SUPERB
I think the symbols are too big. and in my opinion were better placed in the front of the username.
Also, it's a bit "racist" not to give regular members a symbol, since everyone else is important enough to get one. I've noticed that the new symbols are very eye-catchy... so I have to ask, is this a commercial move on dA's part? Give deviants more reasons to buy a premium? I mean I certainly feel the impulse to check out a user that has stars at the end of their name, right?
Even 's journal is a bit offending in some parts. But hey maybe I'm too sensitive and childish to think that.
I've never stated my feelings about this site before, mostly because I've been lucky enough to have a great experience so far and have met a ton of great and polite people. But I feel this community is sometimes too lenient and not outspoken enough.
Here's a comment regarding the topic that has caught my eye:
and 's comment:
""This comment will most likely not be taken into consideration since you made it quite clear that the symbols will stay like this, but I would still like to state my opinion and hope it gets read or noticed by the staff.
My ending feels
Where is the art in deviantART?
